DUMONTEIL has participated in the 24th Edition of ART PARIS Art Fair, booth J6, featuring works by two emerging French artists — installations and photo-etched mixed media works by Hugo DEVERCHÈRE and latest paintings by Charles HASCOËT. This 24th edition is characterized by its commitment to the environment with two themes - “Natural Histories” and “Art & Environment”.

Hugo Deverchère explores how science, technology, and their new modes of representation shape our eyes, knowledge, consciousness, and perception of our immediate and distant environment. “La Isla de las Siete Ciudades” explores the Iberian biotopes that might have been at the origin of the story of the mythical Seven Cities of Gold, ghost islands whose precise location varies considerably across centuries.

德维切尔的最新创作还集合了其早期系列《结晶的与不可见的》(The Crystal and The Blind)与《远方》(The Far Side)中的研究方式。
Deverchère's latest creation also combines the research approach of his earlier series, "The Crystal and The Blind" and "The Far Side"."The Crystal and The Blind" focuses on the reproducibility of different terrestrial ecosystems with a view to interplanetary colonisation, invites us to enter a microcosm in which regulated parameters control the growth of bacteria, minerals and plants... This series of images brings together distant territories through multiple scales and observation, involving "La Isla de las Siete Ciudades" and "The Far Side". To reveal them, geological, organic and vegetal compounds are applied in the form of powders on photo-etched plates. The material of the landscape enables the emergence of its representation.

Charles HASCOËT uses painting as a medium to share his most intimate inner worlds through his unique perspective and metaphorical paintings. All the featured works at the fair are new journeys the artist has embarked upon since 'The Deep'. Continuing his preference for bright, fluorescent and contrasting colours, the paintings feature octopuses and galaxies against a black background to reflect on current social realities and explore the painting itself.

In the paintings portraying the octopuses, the mimicry and camouflage ability of this magical creature are matched by the rhythmic colours of the picture. Famous for their rounded bodies, bulging eyes, and eight long arms, octopuses are often considered “monsters of the deep”. In Hascoët’s works, their eyes are full of stories and a sense of caring, benevolence, even a hint of warmth through their supposedly cold blue veins.
