(1914-2003)

马塞尔·德尼早年生活在法国西北部萨尔特省，在农场长大的他从小就保留了观察动物的深刻记忆，并且在儿时就已显现出造型的天赋。1928年，未满十四岁的他就参与了当时的展览 “阿尔及尔之东方文化”，并获得奖项。

From his early years in Sarthe France, Marcel Derny had kept a vivid memory of the animals while growing up on a farm, and he had already shown his gift for modeling. He was not even 14 years old when he exhibited for the first time at the Orientalistes d’Alger in 1928, which also brought him his first prize.

1931至1934年，在装饰艺术学院(École des Arts Décoratifs)学习的德尼表现优异，屡获殊荣。1933年，他斩获了当时装饰雕塑领域的大奖，后于1934年加入了法国塞夫尔国家陶瓷制造局(Manufacture National de Sèvres，以下简称塞夫尔)，很快德尼就成为了赛夫尔最重要的雕塑家之一。

He attended the Decorative Arts Academy from 1931 to 1934 and was a prize-winning student. In 1933, Derny was awarded the first place of ornamental carving. He joined the National Manufactory of Sèvres (Manufacture National de Sèvres, referred to as Sèvres below) right after graduation and soon became one of its major sculptors.

马塞尔·德尼的雕塑创作以炽器，瓷器和铜雕为主，其动物寓言式的独特风格随着自身所处时代的发展而不断演变。他成功摆脱了19世纪动物造型经典的束缚，去除冗余，回归本质：即材质的美感和态度的呈现。

Marcel Derny's main media of creation includes but not limited to stoneware, porcelain and bronze. His fable is full of variety and his unique style is able to evolve within different eras of his time. While freeing himself from the classic animal representation of the 19th century, he got rid of surplus and reached the essential – beauty of the material and presence of the attitudes.

Besides the several salons he participated in since 1930, he also exhibited along with the Sèvres at most of the largest international exhibitions in Paris, Taverny, Vallauris, Faenza, Orléans, Versailles, and cities in Belgium.

德尼一生获奖无数，其中包括法国教育、学术界最高荣誉棕榈叶勋章(1952年)，陶瓷艺术大师称号(1960年代)，艺术及文学勋章骑士勋位(1976年)、军官勋位(1982年)等。

Derny's works and contribution were recognized by numerous awards including the Academic Palms (les Palmes académiques, the most distinguished honor for figures in the world of culture and education) in 1952, the title of the Grand Master of Ceramic Art in the 1960s, the title of  Knight of Arts and Letters in 1976, and later that of Officer in 1982.

包括布洛涅(Boulogne)美术馆, 塞夫尔陶瓷博物馆, 法国蒙德马桑(Mont de Marsan)市立美术馆和迈阿密美术馆在内的许多公共艺术机构都收藏了马塞尔·德尼的雕塑作品。私人收藏则遍布法国，加拿大，英国，丹麦，爱尔兰，甚至连日本裕仁天皇也收藏了他的作品。

His bronze or stoneware artworks can be found in many museums, such as Boulogne, Sèvres, Mont de Marsan, Miami, and in private collections in France, Canada, England, Denmark, Ireland as well as in the personal collection of H.I.H the late Emperor Hiro Hito of Japan. 

毋庸置疑，马塞尔·德尼始终是其同时期最重要的雕塑家之一。他向我们证明了好的作品经得起时间和艺术史的考验，更能为空间带来生气，注入优雅的灵魂。

There is no doubt that he will remain one of the most important sculptors of his time. His body of work is a vivid proof that good artworks can always stand the test of time and the review of the history of art while bringing life and the soul of elegance into space.
