The works of the exhibition SPOKEN/UNSPOKEN are brought together by current participants and young artists from the pioneering international graduate semester programme Transcultural Collaboration. Its main working method is practical cross-disciplinary collaboration including all art and design disciplines from music to performance, fine arts and design. It was initiated in 2015 by Zurich University of the Arts incollaboration with six art universities from Asia. Its general focus is on transcultural topics, such as traditions, identity, genealogy of the present, values, different forms of life, globalization processes in general and between Europe and Asia in particular.

According to the head of Transcultural Collaboration Daniel Sp?ti, "encountering and debating cross-cultural issues is essential for young contemporary art and design practitioners to be optimally prepared for their future professional life. In this programme graduates have the chance to build the knowledge and skills needed to produce and present their work in a dynamic transnational environment."

In the two-week exhibition SPOKEN/UNSPOKEN, 36 artists from different cultural settings as well as from a wide range of artistic backgrounds present their collaborative explorations of the spoken and unspoken, the tangible and intangible, as well as the revealed and concealed. The performances andexhibition consider and display questions of language, cultural codesand artistic strategies dealing with implicit and explicit expression.
This international group of young artists will present a vibrant opening event on 20 October with installations and performances taking place at different time slots between 2pm and 5:30pm. On 21 October, the discussion panel "The Art of Hybridization" hosted by renowned Shanghai artist Zhao Chuan invites to a debate on the new artistic energies with young generations of academic power.

Youth Theatre
“Youth Theatre” is a brand project of Ming Contemporary Art Museum. It provides a platform for young art practitioners such as art students, university theatre groups and white-collar theatre groups. It encourages young non-professional artists to express their imagination and passion for art via theatre, dance, sound, video, painting and other art forms, which complements the gaps in the art industry.
